The startup ecosystem of India has shown massive growth, as new entrepreneurs with fresh ideas have come up in recent times and challenged the status quo of standard practices of doing business and providing services, they have reshaped and revived the entrepreneurial space in a novel manner. These entrepreneurs dream big and set out on the challenge of doing it.
Chandan Kr. Malik & Yogesh Dwivedi, two young men from Indore, dreamt of India. Starting with coding they dreamt of something much bigger than that. They envisioned establishing something substantial while serving their core market as well. This dream turned into Global Eagle IT Services, proof of their determination and strategic visions.

Well, today we are excited to tell you, that in this series of interviews, we spoke to Mr. Chandan Kumar Mallik, a youthful entrepreneur directly from Indore & founder of Golden Eagle.
Humble Beginnings in Indore
Among the 2-tier cities, Indore has minimal exposure to major IT services. Coming from this city both Chandan and Yogesh saw an opportunity to remove development teams. Starting with the basics in 2017, with an overall team of just four developers, their early challenges were to obtain clients. With zero experience in sales and marketing, they started with the idea of going to Upwork to hire developers. You may know, Upwork is an online freelancing platform. They jumped on Upwork to present their skills and build trust with potential clients.
The Golden Eagle IT Service And Staffing Company is founded and based in Indore and mainly provides IT Services through remote development teams.
I am Gargi from TechTitanClub, as an editor I got the opportunity to interact with Chandan Kr. Mallik the other day.
While conversing with Chandan, I heard many fascinating perspectives and how Chandan along with his fellow companion Yogesh Dwivedi founded Golden Eagle Pvt. Ltd. while both working as developers in a common organization years ago.
There was a glint in their eyes and dreams filled them up of becoming an entrepreneur and an apprised demeanor, as he went on speaking through his journey.
Journey of Golden Eagle
After graduating from an engineering background, Chandan started working in the role of a developer for straight 2 years. It was only with time that he realized his real power was not as a developer, but as a great communicator interacting with people, and understanding the needs and requirements of their clients rather than just developing codes for them.
As per Chandan, he saw different types of challenges in the market, for which he came up with great solutions, but was not sure how to put these ideas in the real world.
It slowly started to work when the Golden Eagle IT service company started hiring Python developers, java developers, and other developers and creating remote development teams. Further, the company went on to provide superior end-to-end development of the product and did that for straight 8 years for India as well as worldwide.
There was a lot uncovered during the entrepreneurial journey. Chandan took care of interaction and communication while Yogesh being a developer for more than 12 years in IT took care of development and operations.
Today, Golden Eagle has more than 120 developers. Starting with just 4 developers, in the last eight years they made sure to add the perfect talent to their company.
Challenges and Growth
In the words of Chandan “When we first thought about starting our company, we had challenges and had no clue how to interact with clients and get the businesses”.
Starting was a major challenge as the duo has no experience in how you reach clients as both have zero sales experience. Starting with setting up the profile of Upwork along with bidding on different projects. During those interactions, they showed their expertise to clients there. It was not an easy job convincing clients for the first time and building a trust factor. Building trust is important in business and a true challenge for getting the best assignment.
During COVID, different challenges came up as everything was working remotely.
As per Chandan ‘we had to manage remote employees; the client was already remote from the start. Managing remote employees was a big challenge as moonlighting was also a trend in IT organisations. We had to monitor those also, so we built in-house software to take care of that.
Ultimately, they have been able to monitor the productivity of teams and now around 40% of these are working remotely. Currently, this type of model has gained fame but most of the time developers are now remote and managing well.
Gaining the first Client and making fresh Hiring
‘As we worked in IT we had our portfolio and projects we have worked on. Based on those projects we could explain to our client and ultimately gain our first customer’ said Chandan with a spark of happiness in his eyes.’
Slowly training the developers started with in-house trainers along with hiring fresh talent from universities and colleges. A six-month training program was formed to train developers and make them gain enough knowledge for onboarding and for the developer team.
Exploring New Horizons With AI Team
The duo made certain that they were the first ones in the company who could work with AI & ML in 2017.
As Chandan states, only a handful of companies in Indore worked on these advanced technologies and they became the first ones from their city to work along Django and Python as most of these libraries are in Python and Django.
The market evolved and now demands developers who have command of these different AI technologies like Chat GPT or Gen AI, etc. This created new opportunities for us as the demand for these developers is on the rise.
Now they monitor employees easily whether they are remote or not using an app called Aura.
Learning to Fly: Golden Eagle's Key Insights
As stated, COVID brought many challenges to our team and how to keep them occupied. Before COVID, we were into end-to-end product development but after the COVID era, the clients wanted developers with great skill sets but also with great communication skills.
The developers had to pass through the interviews and further side and go towards staff expansion, which was a challenge for developers.
The developers were great at coding but not at communication, which made them not clear in the interviews. It was essential to train these developers and make them understand that interviews are not a big deal but a conversation between the developer and the client. The training went on for 3 weeks and it provided surprising results and growth was beyond belief.
It’s important to learn communication in whatever industry you are in. No matter how talented you are, if your communication skills are absent, it can set your career back and you will not be able to grow.
Expanding Their Presence
Golden Eagle today has three offices in Indore and one in Pune as well. And as this talk is going they will be expanding their presence in Dubai as well in 2024. They have already participated as an aggregator in Gitex Dubai in 2023. There are a big sum of opportunities in the Middle East but they want the companies to be in their land. The plans are also there to expand beyond Dubai and European nations as well.

Managing The Financials of a Startup
Since its inception, the duo decided to never take any financial help like loans and moved on to the mode of profitable risk. These days startups take seed funding and if they don’t perform, that startup’s valuation can go down. So, the Chandan decided that they will not take any financials until it’s highly essential to do that.
As Chandan states, they do control spending on marketing budgets and most of the essential work is handled by the team. Chandan also said “With the emergence of AI & ML we are also automating certain parts of work. As software development teams, its quite an easy task for us to do and that is cost savvy in the end”
Mentorship
When asked about who was a mentor on his journey, Chandan states that he has been mostly self-taught, and through online classes, he learned a lot in terms of sales and entrepreneurship. There are certain aspects like learning about matrices. It’s important to understand matrices when judging people on different metrics.
On what criteria can you set these parameters? How to set these KPIs? All this information has been learned through online mediums and later it was introduced to sales and development teams as well. He also gave credit to people who helped him to learn all this knowledge.
Mantra for wannabe Entrepreneur
Seeing his zeal and courage, I want to ask him how he built this big firm without any kind of external financial funding and ask him what can be a mantra for an upcoming entrepreneur.
Chandan says “Never have Plan B on your map, as human beings, it is a tendency to give up, but if we have only one plan we will find a way out.
This has been true for me since I started. Either I succeed or die. And as humans, we will do anything to succeed.”
“Give your 100% and don’t have an exit strategy. Go with a positive energy have calculated risk and do your research. One should have a plan in place and things are going to work out” Chandan says again.
At last, I want to say that when a company becomes successful, it’s due to navigating the right path and planning and maneuvering accurately and Golden Eagle has carved that way and captured the right customer value.
